A bit of life drawing I was able to do recently. Have a new model willing to work with me.

Here's a journal comic from yesterday that I colored real quick. Felt good to hammer out a simple page of feelings and get the Wacom out. Sorry my handwriting is crappy.

Heya, sorry there hasn't been a new post in forever. Got a plan or two to help me get back in the swing of things: journal comics, refreshing and posting older works, putting up portfolio pieces, and taking sketch commissions. If anyone is reading this, hold me accountable. I need to post at least once a week. It's time for me to get in gear. Wish me luck.

Midterm Art Dump

Sup guys? So the quarter's past midterms, and I'm'a show you what I've been up to. I've only got one art class this quarter, Electronic Cover Design for Comics with Nolan.

So project one was coloring a professional cover. This is from an issue of Fear Agent. Looking back, I did a pretty sorry job of it. Hopefully I can find time to revamp it.
Up next is our own cover for a mainstream comic. We pick an issue that we think had a weak cover and make a replacement. I chose DC's The Spirit #30; nothing against Kevin Nowlan or his work, but it was a fairly bland pin-up cover for a very exciting issue, and it has nothing to do with the story, no hook. So here's my try. We also had to redo the title logo, and I went for something kinda 60's swanky-retro.
And now we come to our take on an independent comic cover. Over the summer, I've become a fan of David Tenant's Doctor Who, whom has recently gotten an ongoing comic book series from IDW! Issue 3 has two covers, one with story elements on it, but a boring layout (Doc in handcufffs and two guards just standing there on a blank white page); the other a really cool pin-up shot of the Doctor and TARDIS, but no story or hook. I made an interesting composition with story elements, a cheeky gag of a dunce cap, and redesign the logo blending the blue diamond of Doctor 4 and the warpy oval of Doctors 9 and 10. Enjoy. So yeah, that's what I've been up to in class. Now for the final project: a wrap-around cover for a graphic novel of a personal project. All I can say for now is this - Space Heroes: KACHOW! Saving the day with a Guntar!

I WANNA RAWK!!!

So I went and saw the Kaiser Chiefs and Green Day in concert a few days ago. Great concert! Never heard the Kaiser Chiefs before and I gotta say, they have a fun front man; incredible energy and stage presence. So while everyone else was rocking hardcore, I was taking mental snapshots and then drew this up when I got home. Hopefully I can figure out a fun way to color and an easy way to fake stage lights. We'll see!

OM NOM NOMS

Sup everyone? Reporting live from my last class of the quarter, and presents the fruits of my labor. Cranked these pages out faster than any others (thank Zod) and hopefully Prof. likes them. Just a quick 4 page tale of monsters, cannibalism, and cupcakes. Enjoy, and I'll try to make something good in the next week for ya. Peace!
b.t.w.: If y'all could offer any constructive criticism, that'd be great. There are things I'd like to add and fix; when I do, I'll post it. So yeah. Crit me, baby!
